Sarasota Eye Exam
If you want to make sure that your eyes are remaining healthy, and that you have an up-to-date lens prescription, you should come in to see our optometrist at Optical Outlets for a complete eye exam in Sarasota; if you have recently had a vision screening, it will not take the place of this important eye exam.
Sometimes a person can have a vision screening. However, this will never take the place of an eye exam, since an eye screening generally only checks your eyes for a particular situation. For example, if you are getting a new driver’s license at the Department of Motor Vehicles, you may have a vision screening to make sure that you can see at a certain distance to ensure that you can see road signs and cars. However, this vision screening in no way will make sure that your eyes are healthy and free from serious vision problems. Similarly, your child may have a vision screening at school to make sure that he or she can see clearly to the front of the room in order to see the blackboard and the teacher. However, this will not ensure that your child’s visual systems are developing properly.
For these reasons, it is important that you and your child have eye exams on a periodic basis. For adults, it is recommended that you come in on a yearly basis for an eye exam in Sarasota to make sure that your eyes are remaining healthy. During our eye exam, your eyes will be screened for many different eye diseases and disorders including: glaucoma; macular degeneration; cataracts; diabetic retinopathy; retinal tears; dry eyes; and other problems of the cornea, macula, and retina. Children’s eyes should be examined on the basis as indicated by our eye doctor, and will be checked for vision problems as well as for the fact that their visual system is developing correctly.
